Stanley Theodore Matheson (1906-1988) and Anna Newell MacLachlan (1908-1977) - Marriage (Arizona Daily Star, Tucson, Arizona, Friday, October 16, 1931) Social Events
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh A. Maclachlan announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Anna Maclachlan to Stanley T. Matheson, Friday, October 9, in Berkeley, Calif. The ceremony which took place at the home of Mrs. Rose Marx, a friend of both families, was performed by Rev. Penrose Hirst, student pastor at St. Mark’s Episcopal church. The bride was unattended but was given in marriage by her father. Only the members of the immediate family and a few close friends were present. The rooms of the Marx home were lighted only by candlelight and the floral decorations were in autumn shades ranging from yellow to bronze and brown.
Mrs. Matheson was gowned in a modish ensemble of black chiffon velvet with garnitures of ecru lace.
Following the ceremony the couple went to Carmel-by-the-Sea for a brief honeymoon, following which they will be at home to their friends at 2516 Ridge road.
The bride is a graduate of the University of Arizona in the class of 1929. During her collegiate course she was a popular member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority; president of Mortar Board, honorary senior society for women, and president of Pi Lambda Theta, honorary education sorority during her senior year. She was also a member of F. S. T. honorary junior society. Last year she taught English in the Safford junior high school. This past summer she has been taking a graduate course at the University of California.
Mr. Matheson is a graduate of the University of California and has held a teaching fellowship at his alma mater during the past year. Both he and Mrs. Matheson will continue their graduate studies. |
