Frode Lind, 51, of 3705 Sixty-second St., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Dr. Lind died of a heart allment Wednesday at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital. He had been ill 2½ years. Born in Oslo, Norway, Dr. Lind was a Des Moines resident 3½ years, formerly living in Reinbeck. He was a plant physiologist with a doctoral degree from Iowa State University. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Dr. Barbara K. ![]() | Michael Roderick Eagan (1949-2004) - Obituary (The Boston Globe, Boston, Massachusetts, 16 Aug 2004) Michael Eagan, 55, musician, composer Los Angeles Times Los Angeles — Classical musician and composer Michael Eagan, who cofounded Musica Angelica, a highly regarded early music group based in Los Angeles, died last week at his home in Los Angeles, apparently of a heart attack. He was 55. His body was found Wednesday but the coroner's office had not yet determined the day he died. Considered one of the foremost lute players in the country, Mr. Eagan performed and recorded with a variety of chamber orchestras, including San Francisco's Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the Boston Baroque Orchestra. ![]() | William Oliver Homme (1917-1991) - Obituary (Red Deer Advocate, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, 6 Mar 1991) HOMME — Mr. William "Bill" Oliver Homme of Alix. passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on March 4, 1991 at the age of 73 years. Bill was born on November 24, 1917 at Wabamun, Alberta. He received his education at Shoal Lake. In March, 1942, Bill was united in marriage to Verna Neis. During World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Army, with the 31st Reconnaissance. He also served as a guard for German Prisoners of War, at Kananaskis. During this time, Bill also worked for a time as a miner at the Lynas Coal Mine. Following his discharge in 1946, Bill bought a farm in the Joffre area, and farmed there until 1970. They then moved into Alix, where Bill worked for Alpha Dairies until 1976, then he worked at the Red Deer Alpha Plant until his retirement in 1982. He is survived by his loving wife, Verna of Alix; three brothers, Cecil (June) of Drayton Valley, Lewis of Stony Plain and Mel (Rene) of Red Deer; three sisters, Bernice Osbak of Wetaskiwin, Lill (Dick) Wheadon of Whitecourt and Norma (Zoltan) Petriko of Edmonton; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and one nephew. Verna was born on August 20, 1913 at Bashaw. Verna was united In marriage to William Homme, in 1942, and farmed together in Joffre area from 1947 to 1970. She loved the outdoors and especially en-joyed her garden. Verna treasured her flowers and It was normal to see a freshly arranged bouquet in her house. She also had a real talent for sewing and painting. As she had no children of her own, Verna's nieces and nephew were a great joy, and she spoiled them often. From 1982 until the early 90's Verna and Bill enjoyed the friendships made during their interest in short wave radios. She is survived by her two brothers, Gordon (Muriel) and Sheldon (Florence) all of Calgary; her two sisters, Audrey Neis of Nanaimo and Helen (Sam) Morie of Castor; four brothers-in-law, Mel (Rene) Homme of Red Deer, George Calvert of Rocky Mountain House, Cecil (June) Homme of Drayton Valley and Louis Homme of Stony Plain; five sisters-in-law, Bernice Osbak of Wetaskiwin, Lill (Dick) Wheadon of Whitecourt, Norma (Zoltan) Petriko of Edmonton, and Mary Neis and Muriel Neis, both of Calgary; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Verna was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Bill on March 4, 1991; her brothers, Garnet and Verlen; and two sisters, Lyla and Ivy.
