Sverre Knibestøl (1939-1968) - 2 Persons Killed in County Crash (Poughkeepsie Journal, Poughkeepsie, New York 02 Nov 1968) 2 Persons Killed in County Crash
RHINEBECK – A Red Hook woman and a Statten Island man were injured fatally and three others were hospitalized Friday night after a two-car head-on collision in Route 308, a half-mile east of Route 9G.
It was the seventh multiple-death traffic accident this year in Dutchess County.
Killed after being thrown to the highway was one of the drivers, Miss Rita Perz, 26, Route 199, Red Hook, State Police said she suffered brain injuries and multiple internal injuries.
Sverre Knibestol, 29, Statten Island, died later in the Northern Dutchess Hospital emergency room while undergoing treatment for a compound skull fracture.
He was passenger in the other car driven by Anthony Dachille, 38, Statten Island.
Troopers said that Miss Perz, traveling east, had just passed another car at about 10 o’clock when her car went onto the shoulder of the road. As she brought it back to the pavement, police reported, the collision occurred with Dachille’s westbound car.
He was listed in fair condition this morning in Northern Dutchess Hospital’s intensive care unit, being treated for fractured ribs.
Transferred from there to Vassar Hospital and reported in fair condition were Guy Molinari, 40, who had multiple fractures, and Anthony Ditommaso, 36, who sustained head injuries, bruises, and broken ribs and foot bones. Both of Statten Island, they were in Dachille’s car.
The Red Hook Fire Department Ambulance and the Rhinebeck Ambulance crew responded. State Police Investigator Gilbert Olsen and Troopers Timothy Rabbett and Thomas Colwell handled the case.
