  		Raymond Bayless (1888-1980) - Obituary (Rapid City Journal, Rapic City, South Dakota, Thursday June 12, 1980) Raymond Bayless EAGLE BUTTE — Services for Raymond "Ray" Bayless. 90, of Eagle Butte, are scheduled for 10 a m Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte with Pastor Ernest Langness officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Butte Cemetery under direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church prior to service. Bayless died Wednesday at his home in Eagle Butte. He was born Oct. 8. 1889. at Falmouth. Ky. He spent his early years as a jockey racing horses in Kentucky. Idaho and Montana. While living in Falmouth he learned the barbering trade. He married Sophie Tollifson in 1914 at Chicago, III. The couple made their home in Chicago, later moving to Minnesota. They homesteaded 20 miles south of Eagle Butte in 1917. In 1923 they moved into Eagle Butte where he continued as a barber. His wife died in 1938, and he married Inge Moland at Lemmon in 1939. The couple made their home in Eagle Butte where he retired in 1958. Bayless served on the Eagle Butte school board from 1931 to 1966. He also served on the township board, and was a former member of the Eagle Butte Fire Department. He was a member of the Eagle Butte Masonic Lodge for 63 years, and the Aberdeen Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Inge of Eagle Butte; two daughters. Mrs. Melvin (Eileen) Anderson of Eagle Butte and Mrs. Guy (Janet) Simons of Faith; one son, Ira of Eagle Butte, and seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, four sisters and one brother.
