Manager Killed When Car Upsets On Return Trip (Daily Times, Chicago, IL, Friday, Aug 07, 1931) Manager killed when car upsets on return trip
Clayton Faville, 35, 1626 Farwell ave., territorial manager of the General Motors Acceptance Corp., was killed early today when the auto in which he was riding leaped a ditch, crashed through a fence and turned over twice in a field at the intersection of the McHenry and Dundee roads near Wheeling.
The driver of the car, P. W. Motherwell, 3S, 11057 S. Hoyne ave., district manager of the corporation, was only slightly injured.
The death was the end of an allday picnic at Lake Zurich given by the finance company: for its employes.
Witnesses pointed out that the McHenry rd. terminates as it reaches the Dundee rd. and there are no lights or warning signs of any kind at this spot.
Harry Baie, charged by his wife with being a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Chicago Nov. 5, 1921, was released from custody today after a search of police files revealed no accident in which Baie couuld have been involved.
Baie and his wife were arrested in front of the Berwyn hotel in Berwyn Tuesday following a family fight after they were evicted from the hotel. Chief Norton said that he believed the accusation made by the wife was but part of the family quarrel. Baie told the police that this was the second time his wife had accused him of being a hit-and-run driver. |
